SPECTACULAR 1930s' IVORY STRAW TILT HAT + FEATHER "BIRDS" & FULL NAVY VEIL

A rare find, this 1930's ivory straw tilt hat and full navy veil is to be treasured! The flat top crown is surrounded by an asymmetrical short brim with double edges. The veiling can be tucked on top, or worn as photographed. There is an elastic band attached he'd to the inside of the hat to keep it in a tilted position. The magnificent multicolor feather "bird" is what really makes this hat stand out. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills.
