VALENTINO ~ this suede beauty is the perfect traveling companion, and a natural easy choice for a trip in early spring. My close friend’s place, in the Hampton’s, the impressive Jackson Pollack above the fireplace~Alan Alda stopped by, asking if we had any lemons, then stayed to swim in my friend’s olympique pool, surrounded by a veritable jungle of tropical specimens, planted entirely round the granite walkway ~ all this situated inside a glass atrium overlooking the golf course. I sat on the edge of the pool, swishing my legs back & forth. Not in the pool doing my usual, graceful side stroke. Always on the left side, a total spazz on turnover & even worse afterwards. Stanley said: « Why don’t you get in? » I tilted my head, feigned slight grimacing And replied: « Well, I think I’ll duck inside & lie down. I’m just a bit queasy after the flight in. » Walking away I did a Dorothy Parker glance aside~ « Pheasant Under Glass for dinner I suppose? » Then I exited directly into the house, and stood in front of the fireplace looking up at the behemoth oil on canvas. ~ Splatter hurled onto a rolled out cloth while Pollack traversed back and forth again & again hurling paint rapidly, a cigarette, a drink and more paint~ tormented by the bi•ch goddess success.
