NOT for sale yet! It is vintage and bought at an estate sale. I forgot to ask about the make of the boots and left. I really love the off white patina on these ones! But unfortunately, this height didn't look good on my "chicken" legs. 😢 I posted the FD markings at the bottom and the serial numbers inside. If any of you knows about these boots, I'd really appreciate it. I tried googling it and only found 1 on etsy , that's also vintage. Will decide if I want to part w/ it...maybe soon! 😌

westgal I will tell you these cannot be too vintage because they have man made soles. True vintage boots have leather soles. The brand of the boot should be printed somewhere inside the shaft. I am not sure why these would have an FD stamp on the sole.

westgal Try to see if there are any brand names inside the shaft or on the boot pulls. I have bought and sold and wear a lot of cowboy boots in my time. I'll try to help you ID them. Thanks for the shares!

westgal I saw the ones on Etsy. Those look like they have leather soles because of the pegs in the sole. They are also ugly! Lol! At least these are made in USA. I will keep looking for FD boots. I've never heard of that brand. I'll have to check my reference books.

westgal FD mystery is solved: it is not the brand of boot. It stands for Factory Defect.

lilypatootie @westgal Thanks for helping me figure this mystery out! I was also doing my own research online and that's what it seems it is. Although the mark inside says leather upper & lower/shaft(?...hard to read) then other materials man-made....I really don't know anything else other than it is made in the USA. There are nails near the heels though...and I tried looking for any brand name but couldn't find any. The lady said they were vintage but didn't tell me how old. They look worn with regular wear but no major damage. And it is real leather, I could tell. Maybe I could bring this to a boot shop since I live in good ole Texas anyway. And yesss, the etsy boots are ugly! Hahaha 😳😄

westgal Post a pix of the soles and I can tell you if they are leather. Those estate sellers will say anything is vintage in hopes of getting more money. Yes, if you are in Texas, get to a reputable boot shop to see what they can tell you. I've seen some really cheap boots. Some with pleather shafts and a leather vamp. Why even bother in that case?! I like a good boot, all leather. And I'd love to have a custom pair someday. Now, if I were a betting woman, I'd say these look a lot like Ariat boots from the Sonora line.

westgal As for the FD, don't let that worry you too much. Boot makers cannot and will not sell I'll-fitting boots. Usually, a defect indicates a scratch or blemish, which occur after the first wearing. I often buy my Justin lacers from the El Paso factory because they cost only $60-$70 there as opposed to $139 and up in a retail store.

westgal I just signed on to my computer for the first time since seeing this and can get a better view now that from on my iPhone. The leather uppers are in very good condition. Nice color, too. The sole looks like leather, but the leather nails are the sure sign that they are. Nice dog, too!
