cmb9697 Do you know any history on these shoes? Approximate year they were made?

classic_ny @cmb9697 Hi Mr. Brown, Thank you for your interest in the McAfee shoes. Unfortunately, I can't tell you very much. I am not a store or dealer, rather a student, disposing of much of my grandparents' acquisitions. They lived on the West coast. My granddad loved McAfee and had about twenty pair, some made for him in London, some purchased at Bullock and Jones and I'm told some at a store in Seattle. They would have been purchased between 1950 and 1965.

classic_ny Some have been worn, some merely old, others like this pair seem unworn, at least outdoors and in excellent shape. The leather generally seems supple and elegant although the top edging shows some age if you look carefully. Some are hand marked in script on the inner side which I believed were bespoke to his last; this pair does not have that marking. The interior says "38 Dover Street - Alan McAfee Ltd. - London W.I. The sole is embossed, "Made in England". The tongue is marked, "B20B."

classic_ny @cmb9697 Thank you for your note. If you have a serious interest in bespoke men's footware, you might be interested in the craftsmanship of John Lobb, one of the oldest, finest firms, still available.
