This is an amazing black straw wide brim hat from the extravagant 1930s'! The crown is short, round, and the opening has a net, as shown in the photos. The large wide brim is bent so it bends down at one side, covering one eye, and turned up at the other side. There is a satin band around the crown that ends in a bow at the back. From this bow there is a beautiful long, red feather "flower" which could be a carnation, plus a green leaf and stem.
Women’s 1930s hats were small and simple in decoration, yet their shaping was a work of art. Folded, molded, and angled felt made hats look like something out of a Picasso painting. Women’s hats in the 1930s covered the hair and were used to mysteriously cover one eye or the forehead.
Label: Manufactured under fair labor standards. Consumers protection label
