giftoftheeagle Yea guys we ran out of room on our last "venting" thread so post your frustrations here. I've stopped sharing my items temporarily while I think about what to do. Sales are really slow due to the live shows. One poster from our other thread that ran out of room said she has started posting on the M site and had 12 sales in two days!

giftoftheeagle @reebs54 Hi felow Poshers. Those doing lives, please don't start your bids at $3. When you do that you are working for Poshmark for Free! Poshmark basically has figured out how to manipulate you into literally giving them slave labor, in the name of building your business. please let us unite so that all starting bids on Posh start at $10. That way All of Poshmark benefits.
Aug 19Reply
reebs54
reebs54 @giftoftheeagle Thank you for speaking up about this. Please do not start bids too low. u need to make a profit. You are worth more than that: time, all the effort you put in to photos, carefully cleaning, steaming, displaying, taking measurements, running shows or sharing your closet, packing and shipping, this is all work! Who is working for $3?

habbelobbe My sentiments exactly. So, the algorithm…I thought, hey I’ll give the silent show a try. Not one buyer. Had 3 people on once and no one the second show. Ugh.
Sep 19Reply
playitagainpm
playitagainpm @habbelobbe its the same people over and over again doing shows.. I'm not interested in crusty LV bags or anyone's outdated fashion from a pallet
Sep 19Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle @asydne I wonder if people are finally getting tired of lives. It seems like people are starting to cluster to certain people doing lives. So many shows look like they will have only 4 or 5 people attending. They are told to " build their business" and that in time things will look up. Whenever they sell for $3, they are working for Poshmark for free, like an indentured servant.. No freedom there. Start your lives at $10 and raise everone's boat. 💜💚💙💛

asydne
asydne I really don’t understand the process of the dealers. You have ppl that are having live parties selling other Poshmarkers items. So I can’t get a live but I can pay one of these ppl that have all of the book shows to sell my items. Please explain how this works. Posh gets a cut, the person doing the show gets a cut, the tax man gets a cut. Is this even a legal job?
Sep 19Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle @asydne question from reddit "Do people get money for simply hosting Poshmark live shows? I’ve tried googling my question before and I cant seem to find an answer. I’m wondering because I’ve seen this one specific live that happens once a week where this woman will host a “yours, mins, and ours.” She doesn’t sell any of her stuff but will literally sit on the live auctioning off other people’s stuff for HOURS. Part 1
Sep 20Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle Part 2: So my question is, does she get money for hosting a show? Does she get a cut of the profits from what other people are selling? I can’t understand why she would sit there for literal hours (seriously 2-3 hours) doing this if she wasn’t making money herself? i believe the answer is No. They get exposure for their own closet.. And Also a little celebrity. Can someone who does live share shows answer this question? Thank you sooo much!
Sep 20Reply
playitagainpm
playitagainpm @giftoftheeagle They don't receive any $$. What they do gain is more followers, closet exposure and lots more viewers in their shows.
Sep 20Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle @playitagainpm Hardly seems worth the time! Working for free! Poshmark employing slave labor. But Wait! Maybe they want to be Enslaved! But Wait Again! Some of them are good hearted souls really wanting to help others by doing Yours And Mine Share Shows, Which go on for hours! But Ultimately the results are the same. Poshmark Enslaving People! And People Working for Free.

Sep 21Reply
playitagainpm
playitagainpm @giftoftheeagle people do share sows to gain clientele.. they shares and in between, they run there own stuff.. I understand the anger, but that's business.. My gripe is small closets, THAT HAVE NO INTENTION OF EXPANDING THEIR CLOSET OR GOING LIVE, should still be able to consistently make $$ They should push lives AND closet selling.

Oct 08Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle @playitagainpm Live shows are very time consuming. You have to prepare, and then sell. It takes hours of time. And sometimes you might only have 3 or 4 shoppers attending. If you share for someone else to share your item you have to be at the show, during the time your item shows. Also time consuming. People please start your items if you are doing lives at $10, as you will Raise your boat AND everyone else's too!

kaysuniverse
kaysuniverse @playitagainpm Diana, I appreciate you taking the time to post this. I don't care for LIVE shows either. And you're right... the sales have been noticeably slower for us Posh Ambassadors since the live shows began. There's another big issue with poshers who don't take this seriously. I have experienced this personally, so I'm not claiming sumthin I've heard... it's a fact. Many poshers won't respond to offers or comments about a listing. This's very offensive to the perspective buyer. I myself
Oct 19Reply
kaysuniverse
kaysuniverse @playitagainpm have made an offer several times only to have it expire and have had my questions ignored about a product that I was interested in purchasing. This kind of behavior gives PM a bad reputation to newcomers or lazy shoppers. Poshmark definitely needs to start deleting closets or suspending access to those who have "No Activity" on their closet for more than 30 days without being put on vacation mode. I believe this had turned away potential

kaysuniverse
kaysuniverse @giftoftheeagle wow I didn't know that... maybe their reach was a bit too far considering it's not easy money like they claim in advertising. I wudnt call Posh crappy tho it just takes dedication and serious buyers/sellers. this community used to be so awesome... itz still okay but there are a few things Posh team cud do that wud help us ambassadors gain more business. 🤑

giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle @kaysuniverse Poshmark, Poshmark, Poshmark, won't you listen to the people? We don't like your live shows. Separate the platform into two separate apps. Don't make people work for free. Raise the minimum bid to $10. Stop your greed and selfishness by forcing live shows on us.

70sgurl
70sgurl @playitagainpm, thanks for posting this forum. I have actively sold on PM for a year now. This is a retirement hobby for me, and a way to downsize my closet. I have no desire to buy pallets of goods and do shows with 5 attendees. To me the shows have diluted the value of most closets, and told new poshers and visitors that they can get items for dirt cheap. I have listed on other sites with some success, but would rather stay in one place...this is supposed to be fun!
Dec 11Reply

julesb75
julesb75 How do you promote your closet if you don’t do lives? I feel like so many people are buying overpriced junk and I am practically giving away items that are in excellent or new NWT condition. What gives?
Dec 12Reply
playitagainpm
playitagainpm @julesb75 You promote ur closet by sharing it.. This what all sellers did prior to love shows... sales were great! with the lives, established closets died, and Joe owns off the street is making bank off the trash being sold on lives.
Dec 12Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle Hey fellow Poshers, so Poshmark has a new tool in beta called Promted Closets with a free trial, and they want all USA closets to sign up. This means when they say free trial that there will be a fee involved on a monthly or yearly basis or maybe per item basis for buyers to see your closet.
Dec 25Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle So this also means that unless you pay to have your closet seen, you're already dead closet will be even deader then it is now. May be the last straw for me.
Dec 25Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle Hey fellow Poshers, just found the trial to have your closet promoted is anywhere from $30 a week to $90 a week. Maybe fellow Poshers if you are using the trial which I heard was a two week trial you could let us know what you think? Thanks!

chrismbc
chrismbc I’ve been on here for like 7 years or some unbelievable amount of time. Sales were amazing and it was tons of fun selling and really meeting people. Then, PM went public and sales DIED. Bots appeared and women who kept calling me honey, darling, beautiful, whatever 🙄. Then came the live shows, which I don’t plan on doing (who seriously has time?), and now Beta. PM already takes 20%, I lose profit offering discounted shipping, I am most certainly NOT paying them to promote my closet.
Jan 26Reply
chrismbc
chrismbc I’ve invested literally hundreds of hours self-promoting and promoting other’s closets, FOR NOTHING. I will continue to participate the old way, but I’ve definitely backed off of this platform. The pay is the same as charity, without a tax break.

timsouza @giftoftheeagle great idea! Thank you for this thread, and this information. I just started selling and now understand what you are saying! Wow much harder to get it posted in parties… it’s seems at least. I’m trying sharing and shopping all day! That part I don’t mind. Just want a fair shake, and honesty! Poshmark used to be a haven for me to insure quality and love. Best of wishes! ❤️🙏❤️
Feb 14Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle @timsouza Yea a recently saw the CEO giving an interview on Poshmark, trying to really push live sales. Heres the thing, I personally am not interested in securing Pallets, (the expense, physical labor, extreme time consuption, and worry about everything selling) to sell on Poshmark.
Mar 02Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle Also the fact that I joined Poshmark not to have another job, but to make money while I sleep (side hustle) and that has been pretty much destroyed by the current owners, whom I don't think understand the desire of Americans to NOT work as hard anymore, but to have more life work balance.
Mar 02Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle Yea, so sadly, I still sell, but am shutting down my closet slowly, as Poshmark's vision is not my vision, as closets are not thriving in this new enviroment, only live shows matter, and closets are in the dungeon.

singingcicadas
singingcicadas So THAT’S why Al my sales have slowed down. Well I don’t like live shows either, all these people taking about anything other than the sales they’re trying to make, music too loud in the background, some mostly staring into their screens trying to read what their buyers are babbling about and HARDLY ever showing anything they’re selling! Mostly unorganized people acting very boring ad amatueurish trying to sell stuff I don’t want so have to wait and wit and…
Mar 13Reply
singingcicadas
singingcicadas 1.Never mind all the inventory we have to hold and take up space in our Homes just trying to sell quality vintage items from grandma and great grandma! Has anyone sold a mink coat for over $500? THERE IS A POSHMARK SCAM I LEARNED ABOUT WHEN I INOCENTLY SLLD A MINK COt, a rabbit coat and a few other items. I learned of this CRAP olixh that all saws of genuine furs MUST first be diverted from the seller…
Mar 13Reply
singingcicadas
singingcicadas 2. To a “poshmark check point” to see if your mink is really a mink! Then they are supposed to repack it after inspection and send it on to the buyer! Hahahahah! That’s the last my buyer and I ever heard form our package again! It was traced, POs were contacted along with poshmark but our fur coats just “disappeared into thin air”. I will never sell anything over $500 on poshmark agin. They are of NO help to me or the buyer!
Mar 13Reply
singingcicadas
singingcicadas Right now I started selling historical articles on eeeeBay. I’m seeing how it goes. In the 90s before there’s even was a poshmark, I opened a store on eeeBay called The Gothic Closet and it was an organized full time job with customers I knew and who always came back to me for more and NOone haggled about the prices. Guess it’s just not the 90s anymore.
Mar 13Reply
singingcicadas
singingcicadas By the way, I had to write eeeeebay instead of the single e because poshmark wouldn’t allow me to publish the comment with another selling site included in the post.
Mar 13Reply
singingcicadas
singingcicadas @giftoftheeagle where else are you considering selling?
Mar 13Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle @singingcicadas I sold some stuff locally and have even considered building my own website. I find eeeeebay clunky and difficult to list on. Plus I know many people pay extra to have their item seen. The M site is just slow to sell and offers no video.
Mar 17Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle So I am selling off my inventory on Posh, and moving on to other opportunities that I find on Ticcccc Tokkkkkk and other places. I have really enjoyed my time on Poshmark, especially before the live shows. But for me this was supposed to be a make money while you sleep, which it was before the live shows.
Mar 17Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle Now it is much more of a job, which I want to avoid. Well wishes to all of you!
Mar 17Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle Also, if your on your own shipping can go first class, which most things can easily go first class for about $5 and is still trackable. The Cost of Shipping now a days is very out of control.
Mar 17Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle Also, I have noticed Poshmark is advertising a lot right now on TV to get new people to sign up. A sign perhaps that Closets like mine are becoming inactive, dropping out, closing, or leaving. An increased rate of advertising usually means something, perhaps a sign of desparation?
Mar 17Reply
singingcicadas
singingcicadas @giftoftheeagle and in the commercials they make it sound so simple “it takes 5 minutes” hahaha. Yeah, add up the time to stage, take pictures, write descriptions, take measurements, store inventory, wrap and pack sold items, go to PO plus the haggling from buyers and poshmark’s percentage taken… five minutes????? Their commercials are total lies! My husband says Why do you waste your time doing this shįt?
Mar 17Reply
singingcicadas
singingcicadas @giftoftheeagle I’m going to take the majority of my stuff to a consignment shop even though I have had some bad experiences in the past with them “losing” things and dishonesty. The rest is just going to Good Will. I’m so tired of this after all these years and I agree with everything you’ve been saying.

Mar 29Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle @playitagainpm So Poshmark has been constantly Advertising Since January. A death Spiral? Maybe. Live Show Burnout? Too many inactives/leaving? Definately shows the need to replenish active users. May also indicate frustration that we didn't latch on like Asians might.
May 11Reply
giftoftheeagle
giftoftheeagle But the need for advertising may also indicate a cycle such as described above. And if they can replenish with enough active users they may be qble to keep the cycle going for awhile, until the new users experience the same burnout. With each Cycle it will get harder for Poshmark.
