SALE Handsome 1940 era long hostess gown. Casual, but with the right degree of special occasion vibe. The top is in a pepperberry (reddish coral) with scattered tiny gold embroidered flowers. The long skirt is in black. Both carry special features. Note the open triangle at the throat of the top-- it closes with a single button and loop. The sleeves are long and close with snaps. The straight skirt has a self-fabric belt that closes to the left side with snaps. At that point is a floppy bow. Without the belt, the left side waist has short, angled sewn down pleats. Note--the back of the belt is attached on the inside of the skirt with a safety pin at the very back--we assume the original owner placed this. The top has thick shoulder pads that add that angular look so common to the '40s. The dress closes with an 11" metal zipper. The fabric is most likely a rayon, which leads to a nice drape for the skirt. No maker label-- this may be home tailored--the zipper is heavier than one would expect in a factory made item.
Size: no size label (the belt has a stamp that says 16--size?) 42" bust; 31" waist; 36" hip; 23 1/2" sleeves; 15 1/2" across back; 55" long to 2" hem; belt--3/4 x 33
Condition: good vintage. No holes--minor perspiration stains under arms--too light to photo.
Price: $75 #6431a All fashions are rolled for shipping

I love this dress SOOOO MUCH! But I wonder if hips too narrow; bust is good.. would love to have tailor let out hips, but enough fabric to do so??
