Richard Jungell Signed Karhula Green Glass Winter Scene. This is a stunning Karhula pale green art glass bowl signed RJ (for Richard Jungell) in script on the bottom. It has a wheel cut design around featuring a reindeer pulling a Laplander on a sled. There are rays from the Aurora Borealis around the bowl and engraved "snow" at the bottom edge. Minor scratches on the bottom and side. Measurements: Measures 4" tall, 6" wide across the top rim to rim and 3 1/2" wide across the bottom ground foot ring. Maker/Marks: Hand signed "RJ - Karhula" on the bottom. Age/Date: 1930s Karhulan lasitehdas (Karhula Glass Factory) was established in 1888 mainly as a window glass factory, but they also made bottles and crystal, most of which was targeted for the Russian market. But the factory's golden years were from the 1930s when it expanded into design glass into the 1950s. In 1936, the first of the legendary Savoy vased by Alvar Aalto were manufacturered at the Karhula factory.
