Ribbon Unit Citation: Army Valorous Unit Award with Small Gold Frame WIDTH 1 9/16” HEIGHT 9/16” Acquired from a Military Surplus Store that went out of business Attachment: Small gold frame - used on Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps awards. The Army Valorous Unit Citation (VUA) is awarded to units of the United States Army who show "extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy of the United States of America". The award was created in 1966 but could be awarded for actions dating back to August 3rd, 1963. It is the 2nd highest unit award of the U.S. Army and is considered the unit equivalent of a Silver Star Medal.
