Reversible embroidered cloth,scarf, head over, table cover

I really don’t know what to call this. It’s beautiful. Both sides are embroidered the same and it has very fine fringe around all sides. This could be a shawl, a scarf a head wrap but I bought it to put over a table. And I absolutely love it but so would my kitten :( I don’t want to chance having it get ruined. There are no tags and I have no background. I bought it at vintage store. It might be polyester?
