i am a US size 6-8 dress ....wondering if this medium is that range...can't tell by size chart. Also is there any stretch in the fabric?

@saraanh I'm 5' 10" medium build, usually wear a medium/8 and this fits me perfectly. There isn't really any stretch, but the fabric is sturdy, and with the corset shape and style, it's meant to be snug. It gives great cleavage if you've got that to offer. ;-)
The waist on the skirt is 30" and can go around the waist or rest comfortable on the hips. The waist on the overdress is the same. Armpit to armpit is 36". I usually wear a 36' Bish bra, but this fits.
It really is an amazing piece.

About what time era?
cameragirlsf
@saraanh Easy enough to hem if need be. Could be done with a quick hand stitch. It's 42" long and hits me right at the top of the foot, so you'd probably need to hem it.
It could be great for mid-19th century (Victoria), Or late 18th century (Georgian/Colonial). That said, I thought about wearing it to a very creative "Edwardian Ball" in San Francisco. Also the Dicken's Fair. Could also go see it at a Rennaisance Faire, a queen costume. With some knickers and a few pins, even Shakespeare.
