Arches are molded to fit a dancers foot & shoes are extremely well balanced & very lightweight. They have to be for a dancer’s safety. Front section of the shoe is non-slip w/ rubber embedded in the sole so it will not come off with vigorous activity. The heels are very stable & molded as part of the shoe so they will not snap off causing a dancer to fall. Rubberized Heel Tip. Will not scratch floors! The upper portion of shoe designed to mold around the ankle & support the foot w/ straps that fasten securely at outer side of ankle. Footbed is well cushioned. It truly is possible to dance in these shoes & wear them quite comfortably. They are ergonomically designed by a professional dancer. They are a work of art & highly collectable. They have been worn for performance so there are a few scratches on the silver sole under the ball of the foot. Barely noticeable due to reflective surface.
