DELFTSE BLAUW SPINSTER FIGURINE!
WOW! This is not what I call "toursity" Delft trinkets you buy at the airport, this is German Porcelain!
This size and skill, I'll call it Lladro-Delft, ha!
These types were made between 1893 and 1920.
So, I had to look up the origins of the word "spinster" to see if it correlated to "spinner," someone who spins thread, as I didn't think spinner was correct. Yep, "spinster" it is, ha!
She's hard at work, seated and bent over her spinning wheel. The detail of her holding the raw material in her left hand as she feeds it into the spinning wheel with her right hand has amazingly survived. Her apron is decorated with Dutch iconic scenery from windmills and farmhouses. The right side of her apron displays fishing boats. The the back of her apron is incised with 6420, assumed model number. (I also have listed separately her larger sibling)
MARK - Pic 4 > on the back of the chair seat > 6420 which I believe is the model #
SPECS - about 5.125"L x 2.5"W x 5.875"H
CONDITION - EXCELLENT!
- no hairlines, cracks, flakes or crazing
- kiln related flaws of missed glaze, grit and glaze pops
