This is a professionally built stage costume, made for the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. It's constructed to look like a full 18th century women's outfit with an inner corset, overskirt, underdress, and fichu, but is a single piece with the components all attached, with hook and eye closures on the skirt and lacing on the bodice for ease of wear. Has tags from the Met and previous wearers inside, the earliest from the 1990s when it was worn in "Manon."
This design can be made to look fancier for events my adding more lace, embroidery, or other details. Because the construction is so well done, it's a great piece for parties, festivals, stage shows, a masquerade ball, or even a renfaire.
Some of the material of the fichu and sleeves is worn from age, but it could be replaced or simply removed (along with the corresponding snaps around the neckline) easily with a seam ripper. See photo for front neckline without the fichu. Construction and the rest of the materials are in very good used condition.
Measurements in photos on mannequin. Length is 56" from neckline to hem measured at back of dress.
