Hello! If there's anything you'd like to know, please don't hesitate to ask. These lovely Chrysanthemum earrings have a width of 1 inch and weigh approx 10.5 grams. Just to let you know, they are earrings and not shoe clips. It looks like the original clips were replaced with shoe clips at some point, but don't worry - the spikes on the earrings have been completely smoothed out, so you can wear them on your ears with ease. I hope this helps!
Countess Cissy Zoltowska, born Maria Assunta Frankel-Fonseca, was a Hungarian-Austrian noble who fled to Lausanne, Switzerland before the Nazi annexation of Austria. She later married the Polish Count Zoltowski and moved to Paris, where she began designing her own "real" fantasy jewelry after being disappointed with the imitation costume jewelry available.
Zoltowska designed pieces for prestigious fashion houses such as Pierre Balmain, Jacques Fath, Helena Rubenstein, and Balenciaga, as well as selling her work to Lord & Taylor and Bergdorf Goodman in the USA. She created two ranges: one for the Hautue Couture market and one for affordable boutiques in France, producing 300 models each year for the French, German, and US markets.
Despite not using the CIS mark until the 1960s, her unsigned work is highly sought after and often misattributed. Zoltowska passed away in 2004, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional and coveted jewelry pieces.
