Rare Inger Waage Stavangerflint Bowl w/Abstract Fishing Village Norway 1950s MCM

This rare, mid-century bowl was designed by the celebrated Norwegian ceramic designer, Inger Waage for Stavangerflint. I took hours to find just one page in Norway with this rare piece. It dates back to the late 1950's and is marked on the base. Waage's work is featured in a comprehensive study of her work "Inger Waage: Design for Stavangerflint 1953-1979", and can be seen at the Norwegian National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design and the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History. Measures 4 1/2" x 8 1/4" and weighs 1.12 lbs. The interior of the bowl is handpainted on 3 sides with an abstract view of a fishing village. The outside has a bright yellow glaze with a very space-age undulating rim. In excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It has a nice clear ring when tapped. There is a tiny glaze skip on the base that is natural and not damage. These large Mid-Century Norwegian bowls are very desirable, decorative and highly sought after. Similar examples online can sell for up to $400.00!
