@skewlpsych This is another very rare variety of the 2000 P Sacagawea Dollar - known as the "Cheerios Dollar".
In late 1999 and early 2000 - The US Mint was working with businesses such as Walmart and Sam's Club to help promote and distribute the new 2000 "golden" Sacagawea Dollar coins. The General Mills cereal company also began participating in the program by putting a year 2000 Sacagawea dollar in 1 of every 2000 boxes of Cheerios cereal.

You need to magnify the tail feathers to show it's a Cheerio

@hannah102733 so. I'm new to this coin. n this coin app. But let me get this straight. If I had a 2000coin of this same type an the p mint on it. Basic same exact mint mark am date on it. U would think it's the same coin. But just so y'all can give me a lit bit of know how or about. But if I had one of those coins. It would be worth the same as this coin is rite. Considering the condition of course can y'all let me know what makes it so special an stand out thanks in advance.

@whatleydaniel36 you really can't tell from this pic but a normal coin doesn't have full detail on tail feathers but the Cheerios coin does have full detail on tail feathers u can literally see little hair lines as u would see if holding the a feather

This may be a 2000 "cheerios" dollar, but it is not one of the rare ones that go for $5-25k.

I have one of these coins..how much is it worth

@dmgbling55129 It actually doesn't matter, the tail came with both variations. You can tell the difference if the coin is made out of "Gold" - or - Brass, Nickel, and etc..."Blend". The "Gold" ones shine and can be scarred easily. The "Blend" ones have a metal shimmer, which is the Nickel, these came after the "Cheerios" dollar. If you were to put both together you will be able to see the difference. Regardless, I am sure you get the idea. It's like Willy Wonkas Gold ticket.

@taystoker2 absolutely, it doesn't look like Gold and appears to have the Nickel shine in it. A friend of mine received a "Cheerios" dollar as a gift and it shines like 22k Gold, which it is made out of almost pure gold, 22k. Beautiful coin and he wouldn't sell it.

Hello, can you please tell me how did you figure out the price of this coin? Thank you

This is not one of the rare coins. Take better quality photos of the reverse (back/tail) side of the coin. All of the birds tail feathers have to be shown in great detail. That's the difference between a $1.00 coin and a coin that's worth thousands.

I have one with no mint mark or year on it.

@hannah102733 The back or reverse side of the coin is very unclear. If indeed you have a Cheerios coin, you will have to, it is an absolute must, to show the tail in full detail. Also, if it is a Cheerios coin, $25,000 is what a certifiable graded coin would probably go for, but it would have to be in a very high grade state. To make that kind of money, you have to get it graded by PCGS or another reputable coin grader. Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure this is just a 2000-P Sacagawea coin and not the General Mills Cherrios coin. Although the picture of the bird is a bit blurry, the tail feathers are smooth. The Cherrios coin, the tail feathers are different. There should be additional etchings on each tail. I have many of the 2000-P coins and 1 General Mills Cherrios coin that I actually got lucky getting in my cereal box. You can check to see if this is a wounded eagle coin. Can't really tell from the picture.

@dmgbling55129 I would have serious concerns without seeing better quality or clear photos. The rachises are not fully clear with some possible damage, and the barbs that we are specifically looking for don’t look like the typical barbs (hair like structures) that we see coming off both sides of a feather.

elbowman702
@whatleydaniel36 it was a special edition coin made for Cheerio cereal brand. Every box came with a penny only 5500 boxes of cereal contained the dollar coin. Out of the 5500 made only 200 have been found. The coin was also minted after they released so looking for the feathers on the tail will tell you if you have the Cheerio or regular dollar coin.

Did you get this price from a special 8 ball?
Feb 24Reply

alexanderpukal
@hannah102733 this isn’t a Cheerios dollar. If you’re trying to sell it as one you’re trying to scam people.
Feb 24Reply

alexanderpukal
I have about 30 of these. I’ll sell them all to you for the price of this one you’re selling.
