Vintage Longaberger-like woven basket with “Howard Johnson’s” on both handles. Howard Johnson’s was known for their friendly hospitality and family oriented restaurants and motels as well as their iconic orange and blue building. Rare find for collectors of Howard Johnson items. It also makes a nice picnic or garden basket. It is in fair condition. It has some wear and stains. And one of the wooden splints is loose on the side. Measurements: 20” x 13” x 4” Could have been used for displaying of baked goods in the restaurant. History of Howard Johnson restaurants (and motels): Howard Johnson's restaurants have a rich history that began in 1925 when Howard Deering Johnson opened a soda shop in Quincy, Massachusetts. It is the first known ‘chain’ restaurant. "HoJo" restaurants and motels are no longer in business with the last restaurant in Lake George, New York closing in 2022.
