flyoverfinds
flyoverfinds Hi! Beautiful sweater! I am wondering about the condition of the small petite, any pilling? Also I typically don't, but wondering if you might be open to a trade? Thanks a whole bunch, have a wonderful weekend :)
Apr 15Reply
whatshot
whatshot @flyoverfinds Thank you so much! The small petite sweater is in good condition with mild to low pilling. Our Poshmark store is a licensed retail boutique and therefore we are not permitted to trade. On most of our items we have flexibility with the pricing and are open to offers. Please let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to help you.🌈 😘💕

mickeymax11 Hi, how do you decide where to price your Anthropolgie items? I think mine might be too low on a few, and too high on some others?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 Hi! I thoroughly research each item to learn all about each one. I read up all about the designer, the brand name, the fabric content, the history, the value, whether there is handmade features on each one such as handmade embroidery, stitching or handmade beadwork. I also look at the original cost of the item and the condition of the actual item I am selling as well ss the fair market value of similar items in similar condition to determine a price.
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 I also look up the sku number and the manufacturer code in Google to learn all about it. I look to see how rare it is and rare items are priced higher.
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 Anthropologie items are expensive and many of them are collector items.
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 I spend many hours researching each item. Sometimes I will work on an item for many months before I list it online. It is incredibly time consuming for sure!
Oct 26Reply
mickeymax11
mickeymax11 @whatshot. Thanks, awesome info! I'm beginning to do some of that. I think I panick a little because people like many times, but don't actually buy, so I lower things too much! I guess I will sell things or be the best dresses homeless person in Utah!! Lol😊😊
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 I used to sell individual items online but over time I found it's more cost effective buying multiple sized units of each item so that I can use dollar cost averaging to reduce my cost average price per unit.
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 Otherwise it's just too difficult to have an online business in this industry because you can't generate any income or revenue because the one item units typically have a higher cost per unit and have higher listed prices. The higher the price you pay for each item as a business the lower your profit margin on the sale because after Poshmark takes 20% of the sale dollars and the customer gives you a low price to buy the item there is no money earned for your business.

whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 Ok I'm going to share some other info for you that I think will be helpful for you. Here goes... So... I am a buyer for retail stores and a stylist and fashion designer. For the past 16 years I have been working as a buyer for retail stores providing them with ladies merchandise. Each season I bring truckloads of brand new merchandise to retail stores and everything is carefully tracked and monitored on computer.
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 So I know what women are looking for and what they like and want. So after doing this successfully as a business for years in the real life retail world I decided to start an online business providing women online with the greatest stuff of all the things I find.
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 Anyhow, before I began this online boutique I had thought in my mind that having an online business doing this would be very much like the real life business of it and I was shocked and surprised to find how different they are!!
Oct 26Reply
mickeymax11
mickeymax11 @whatshot. That is great! I started selling about 7 weeks ago just to share my love of fashion, especially Anthropolgie. I knew I would make very little money, but selling things at a loss is definitely not possible. I don't think a lot of people understand this, or the 20% Poshmark takes, hence the low-ball offers. You have the perfect for this!! Any ideas for me?
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 The biggest difference is this... The merchandise I supply to the retail stores sells fast!! People come into the stores they love the stuff they see, they buy it and they leave and come back to buy more stuff from the stores because they love the selection. Boom!! But the online world in this category is very very different and that's not what happens online as I thought it would.
Oct 26Reply
mickeymax11
mickeymax11 Too bad we don't live close so we could start our own business! I would love to re-sell, Anthropolgie, either NWT, or in EUC. I love their older clothing, it has more charm the most of the newer things, at least that's my opinion . ,😃😃 We call our store Anthropolgie again. Lol 😊
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 Instead of buying, in the online world women browse and browse and browse and browse and like and like and like and like and like. It seems they are using the online stores like a fashion magazine to get fashion ideas that they like. And the timeframe for sales is very long and very slow!!
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 So after seeing this online behavior consistently now for a number of years, I factor this into my business activity. I used to list lots of things online posting 2 to 3 items a day on average. But I found it's just not worthwhile to do that because the sales dollars generated online are low. So this year for 2018 I changed my business strategy and I now post very few items online instead put most of my time into the other areas of my business that are more profitable.
Oct 26Reply
mickeymax11
mickeymax11 @whatshot Soooo Sloooow! I did sell 4 dresses on another app, but that too had slowed. Does it pick up for Christmas in any way?
Oct 26Reply
mickeymax11
mickeymax11 @whatshot Could you tell me what other lines of business? I need to pay off my business credit card, and am starting to think this won't be the way
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 Also I have found that certain categories do not sell well online even though they are brand new with the tags like pants for instance. So at the beginning I was putting pants online but found it to be a total waste of time so now I only sell pants at retail and do not list brand new pants online anymore.
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 I hope this info helps you and if you want my suggestions on individual items and what I think you should price them at I'll be happy to help you and with anything else you need I'll be happy to help you and support you ❤
Oct 26Reply
mickeymax11
mickeymax11 @whatshot. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! When you have the time, if you could take a look at my closet and tell me a few prices you think I should change that would be wonderful a d greatly appreciated!!
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 I totally agree with you!! I love love love timeless classic fashions for women and especially Anthropologie!! If you start to track clothing sales from other companies and sellers online you will see that the online turn around time is typically sooooo slow as molasses!! The merchandise sits for long long long amounts of time before it sells.
Oct 26Reply
mickeymax11
mickeymax11 @whatshot Yippee! Such great news for me and my charge card!!☹️😄😂
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 If you need good quick money try Uber or delivering food locally for Uber Eats. Also if you need a work from home job you can work answering phone airline reservations for the airlines.
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 There's also an Uber for kids in some cities run by a group of moms.
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 I have also found that it's better to focus on cold weather merchandise online because the warm weather merchandise is just not profitable from a revenue perspective. My busiest months online tend to be October, November and first week and a half in December. Rest of the time just lulls like a lullably with sales occasionally here and there that flow in.
Oct 26Reply
mickeymax11
mickeymax11 @whatshot I am limited to what I can do, and the hours I can spend. I have several Rheumatoid arthritis, and Sjogren's syndrome. They are both auto immune diseases, that kick my butt daily, so my energy level is very iffy and sometimes the pain makes doing most things impossible. This is the one thing I thought might work. I will look into the airline reservations idea though.
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 Also I just quickly browsed your store. Put your prettiest nicest stuff first at the top. Put the not as nice stuff down toward the bottom of the page.
Oct 26Reply
mickeymax11
mickeymax11 Oops not several severe!
Oct 26Reply
whatshot
whatshot @mickeymax11 People want to see photos of the merchandise on somebody so try to use pics of people wearing the items whenever you can.
