The 2008 Lifetime television film, starring Charles S. Dutton as Cleveland “Stack” Stackhouse, chronicles the accomplishments of real-life coach and prison guard Sergeant Noel Chesnut and the Ventura (California) Youth Correctional Facility, although the movie takes place in Texas. The real story took place the 1990s when Chesnut was a California's Youth Authority's correction's officer. In an attempt to teach these young women the importance of teamwork, discipline and self-esteem, he gathers African-American, Latina and white teens, many of whom had been convicted of murder and robbery, and organized a track team behind the bars of the prison. Noel sacrificed a lot to encourage these girls, and several of them went on to lead successful lives due to his program.
