This signed lithograph by Rabindra Danks features a charming cat in a statuesque pose. Created in 1973, the lithograph would make a great addition to any art collection or a gift for a cat lover. Danks’ minimal yet skillful use of color is “eye” catching. I’ve seen many Danks pieces, the majority of which feature only the eyes in color, but these stunning purple, green, and yellow eyes are by far the most mesmerizing.
The red dot you see is included on the majority of Danks’ work due to his following of Hindu culture. It is seen as a sign of divinity in all living things.
This lithograph is in excellent condition. It is in its original professional framing, so the frame itself has understandable wear.
Measures: 12.5in wide x 15.5in high
Rabindra Danks bio:
Ralph Danks (1939 (abt) – 2020) was born in Glasgow, Scotland. In the 1960s, he was a guitarist/musician who performed with bands in the UK, in Germany, and in France. In the 1970s, he moved to the United States, became a Vedantist (ie: a follower of Vedanta, which is a type of Hindu philosophy), and took the name Rabindra (which means “giver of light”, in Hindu). Danks was a talented illustrator. In Hollywood, California, he opened an art shop called Gallerie Rabindra, where he created and sold lithographs of the types of animals that would likely be seen on a safari. In the late 1980s, he moved to Japan, where he continued both his music career and his art career. More info at: https://rabindradanks.com/wp/
