Photo #1 is fake and photo #2 is real. Notice the fake one has a batch code!!! So batch codes are not the be all end all. The Chinese are getting very sophisticated. Notice there is no peach clasp on the fake palette. That is because both peaches are on the top cover rather than split. The real one has 1 is on top and 1 on the bottom.

tigresssummer I have been running into a LOT of fake too faced palettes lately. Even tjmaxx is selling them. I bought a chocolate palette and it looked real until I brought it home and compared to the one from Sephora. The fake one didn’t have the smell or the same formula and consistency but the outside looked almost the same. I’m seeing a lot of fake too faced and urban decay on poshmark

jb21aa @tigresssummer I keep telling people that stores aren't exempt. They can be fooled. Just because someone calls themself a distributor doesn't mean their product is good. Even Bloomingdales sells fakes from time to time. I became an expert and I'm pretty good at seeing fakes

tigresssummer @jb21aa thanks for sharing this. More ppl need to be alerted to this before putting possibly dangerous stuff on their eyes or skin. Some of these Chinese dupes were brought up as a security problem because they had dangerously high levels of arsenic

chocojava Hi. I'm interested in purchasing the discontinued white chocolate palette. How can I tell the fake vs. real on that particular one?

kittenzencat @jb21aa have you ever come across a fake moschino bear palette? I got one on Ebay and I have my suspicions.

tx2okc @jb21aa hello, thank you for posting this. I have a question, theres this lady on F B that sells makeup. All of it new in boxes, brands that sell in sephora & ulta. She calls herself a distributor and says she has a license to sell. When I worked at sephora, the brand educators would tell us sephora, ulta, and major retailers like Macy's, dillards, etc are only allowed to sell those products.

tx2okc So my question is, where do you think she gets it from?? And she has TOTES full of product. Real or fake? TIA. ❤your collection by the way❤

tx2okc @jb21aa omg I am so mind blown right now! they even have poor tati's palette! Thank you! I always knew what she was doing is highly illegal, but if I comment in her lives I know she'll block me immediately. I want to gather evidence and then call her out to all her customers. That's because she sells it almost full price! audacity

drreamscometrue Thanks for the info on all of the counterfeit products being sold on this site as well as others. I buy all or most of my cosmetics through places like Nordstrom Rack or TjMaxx and occasionaly Ulta and Sephora when the have sales. It is really messed up that these sellers are not booted off these platforms because then customers of course question people who are honest. I don’t sell lots of makeup but I guess I should start adding more photos of the packaging so they can see its legit.

jb21aa @drreamscometrue I just saw this!! So sorry!! But I try to educate people. Most people are greatful that I help them. The only people who react poorly are people who are guilty. I used to make "beware" listings but I was suspended for a couple days. Now I try to help people low key. Please ask me if you ever want to buy a Too Faced item but aren't sure if it is authentic. Happy to help!! Yes, add as many pictures as possible for buyers to see.

drreamscometrue @jb21aa thanks. Well I think you’re doing a good service to people both sellers and buyers who spend their hard earned money to either source products or buy them. It makes me mad that Poshmark doesn’t do something about it. I knew there were counterfeit products out there but I didn’t know how bad the problem is on Poshmark. Can you tell me a sign that a product is for sure counterfeit?

jb21aa
jb21aa @drreamscometrue #1 the wording is slightly crooked or off #2 there is no serial lot code injetted on the back. Isuslly it is 3 characters. letters or numbers or scombe of both. #3 misspelled words. #4 the borders around pans are cut off or crooked

lish529 Thank you for posting this! I dont know if people even know about knock off make up! Whenever I see really low ball prices, I think “used or fake”! The problem is it makes us with authentic products who have to price them appropriately to make anything look greedy! If it is not directly from the manufacturer or a reputable store such as Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom’s I wouldnt go near it!

lish529
lish529 @kittenzencat never get anything on that site like make up or sterling jewelry even if stamped!
Dec 04Reply
jb21aa
jb21aa @lish529 sadly, you have to watch out at stores like you listed. This is because people buy a real one and return it. The return can be a fake. Hopefully those returns don't get put back on the shelf..... I educated someone who got a fake from a reputable store!! Basically you just need to study pictures and make sure yours is authentic

jb21aa @lish529 I buy on Merc and here. I'm just careful. I am able to spot fakes straight away. I am a Too Faced collector so I got pretty good at spotting fakes. If I had lots of money I would buy fakes and expose the scammers. I am polite at first. I message them to educate them but most know they are selling fake items and cuss me out and block me.
