RARE 1940s' BLACK FELT "RIDING" HAT WITH ASTOUNDING FUCHSIA FEATHER WINGS/VEIL

This is one of the showstopper hats that we have collected. It consists of a black felt "riding" style hat that is covered in black dotted veiling that ties at the back & creates 2 streamers. There is a fuchsia grosgrain band around the crown. The most incredible two tone fuchsia feather wings project to the sides from the front, and there is also a solid lighter fuchsia feather spray at the center. This one is a collector's dream! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Label: MAXINE Hats This is an authentic piece of fashion history!
