Red Jasper is a type of quartz with a natural rich, opaque fiery red color. The color comes from deposits of iron that are naturally mixed in with the quartz to impart a rusty red. Red Jasper crystals are believed to symbolize passion and protection. Red Jasper was believed to have magical properties by many ancient civilizations: The ancient Egyptions carved protective amulets believing Red Jasper to symbolize the fertilizing blood of Mother Isis.
