Anthony Petrocelli, founder and designer of Petrocelli Clothes, who was credited with introducing Roman styling in men's apparel,
Orphaned at an early age, Mr. Petrocelli became an errand boy for Vincent Madonna, a clothing manufacturer. Entirely self‐educated he became foreman of the clothing factory at 17.
At 21 Mr. Petrocelli started out as a manufacturer, contractor, and designer. He served in the Army in World War I. In World War II he was a clothing contractor for the military. He founded Petrocelli Clothes in the early nineteen-fifties and was a partner in the concern when it was sold to Rockower Brothers of Philadelphia 10 years ago.
Mr. Petrocelli was a founder of Boys Towns of Italy and had been active In other charities until his retirement in 1968. He was a former president of the New York Men's Clothing Contractors Association.
