The play premiered off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre on December 22, 1982. Directed by Robert Allan Ackerman, the production featured Susan Sarandon, Ellen Barkin, Deborah Hedwall and James Russo. Replacement actors included Karen Allen, Farrah Fawcett, Glenne Headly, Priscilla Lopez and Lorna Luft. A 1986 film adaptation, directed by Robert M.
