Beautiful pair of vintage Limoges France porcelain display plates featuring rich cobalt blue glaze, gold leaf accents, and romantic Rococo-style scenes. Each plate is marked “Email Spécial Grand Feu” and “Limoges France,” indicating they were produced using a high-temperature enamel firing process for exceptional color depth and durability.
Limoges refers to fine porcelain produced in and around the city of Limoges, France, renowned for its exceptional quality since the 18th century. These plates are crafted from hard-paste porcelain, a durable, high-fired ceramic made from kaolin clay. The "Email Spécial Grand Feu" marking refers to a special high-fire enamel technique (“Grand Feu”) where decoration is fused to the glaze at very high temperatures, ensuring vivid, long-lasting color and intricate detail.
Dating from approximately the 1950s to 1970s, these plates were made during a period when Limoges porcelain was widely exported for decorative use, especially to the U.S. market. The style and gilding reflect the mid-century resurgence of interest in 18th-century French Rococo design.
Perfect for collectors or as elegant wall or cabinet decor. Both plates are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
