This cheery, bright blue skirt suit, fabricated from fine, double-faced wool, is from master tailor, Pauline Trigere. Designed by Trigere in the 1980s, the suit has clean lines that give the look of modernist design. (Admittedly, the suit is not shown to its best advantage on our size 4 mannequin, because of the size difference.) The jacket has a single closure at the waist, a peplum in the back, and shoulder pads. The elegant split cuffs can be worn down, as pictured, or turned up. The skirt has been professionally altered to make it a bit larger, especially in the waist (the alterations can be reversed if needed). No size labels, but our sizing charts indicate that with the alterations, it is a size 14. Please refer to the measurements for the best guidance regarding actual size and compare with similar garments that fit you.*
Note: Trigère was a master cutter. Her garments were known for sophisticated tailoring, and the best of these were her coats and suits made from fine wools, of which this suit is an example. To see Trigère’s work in action, watch the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Trigère dressed the character played by Patricia Neal.
