Today there appears to be only 150 airworthy examples of Mustangs in existance world-wide. The P-51D had several improvements over the earlier models. The Bubble-Top canopy helped pilot's vision. It supported K-14 gunsight and increase from four to six 50-cal machine guns and reduced gun jams. In 1944 it was becoming the USAAF's primary long range escort fighter.
