Intricate design on this Fair Isle sweater. What’s Fair Isle, you ask? More knit geekspeak coming (please note I have only read about this so far - I haven’t dared try it myself yet). Fair Isle is the name of a technique that uses multiple colors in complicated (and usually stunningly beautiful) patterns. Of which this sweater is a great example, although I’m certain this was knit by machine. I saw a machine knitting Fair Isle sweaters at the Dale factory in Norway. It took the machine only a few minutes to knit the most beautiful patterns. It would take me a year! There’s another reason I haven’t tried it yet lol Anyway, this handsome garment uses the colors of blue, gray, and white. It is 100% cotton and can be machine washed in cold water.
