Opalite Elephant Pendant

This is a carved opal-like Opalite Elephant pendant. This pendant is 1 3/4" from tail to trunk and from feet to bail it is 1 1/2". This pendant weights 13.05 grams. There is a silver tone bail on top of this pendant. Opalite is much stronger than real opals, which is why in making these into pendants they are more wearable and sturdy. I have a wide variety of Opalite and rainbow moonstone beads that can be used to make a necklace using this as the center piece. The opportunities are endless for this pendant. Opalite is an artificial crystal designed to mimic the appearance of the October birthstone, natural opal, which is forged organically out of volcanic ash. It is usually composed of a mixture of glass and metal, although some manufacturers also add plastic resin and other elements. Although the term “opalite” once referred to a certain type of natural opal, it has been synonymous with synthetic opalite crystal since the 1980s. Other names often used to refer to opalite include common opal, purple opal, opalite crystal, ice-cream stone, and opalised fluorite.
