ORTHOCERAS FOSSIL - RARE
Is an extinct nautiloid cephalopod that lived during the Ordovician period, around 470 million years ago. These creatures are characterized by their long, straight, conical shells, which can vary in size from a few centimeters to several meters in length. The shell's surface often displays growth lines and may have a rough texture, as seen in the image. Orthoceras fossils are commonly found in marine limestones, particularly in regions like the Baltic States and Morocco. They are popular among fossil collectors and are used for educational purposes.
INFO: Worked for a Gem Show back in late 90s and received this, and other rocks, stones and a fossil from a staff member who was a gemologist with a background in geology.
