jadet4 @luxloot ☺️ Mother is ok. Stage 1 dementia so I’m happy we went with the plan to have her live with us. Michael is fine- doing well but has transformed our 3rd & 4th garage into a man cave🤣 Either that or he’s on the back porch. He only comes inside to use the bathroom 😂😂 Everyone is doing well💕 How have you been?

luxloot @jadet4 I'm so glad that you have your mother with you, especially since she has dementia. My grandmother--in-law had dementia as well, although they thought it was Alzheimer's for a long time. Try to record as much of her as possible, ask all the questions about your family history, her youth and any unanswered questions now. Mama (that's what the family called the grandmother) kept forgetting things, people, was often confused and her personality changed in some ways.

luxloot @jadet4 Don't feed Michael until he spends some quality time with you! I'd put a chain on the fridge and hide the key. :-) Sales are inconsistent. It hasn't been the same since PM started charging sales tax. I've thought about Mer but was afraid. I heard a lot of people got scammed by the buyers and their seller support is non-existent. How has your experience been?

jadet4 @luxloot Lol! He has a tv, frig & grill & fireplace on the porch. He pees in the yard so only needs to come inside for 2 things- loving & to poop!🤣😂😅 His garage has frig & tv! I can’t get him inside😅

jadet4 @luxloot Thanks for the advice- we’ve noticed a personality change. Highly agitated one minute then weepy then happy. Easily confused with normal tasks then fine. My experience has been good on M. Maybe I’m lucky but it works just like Pm and the 1 time I needed support, M helped. (Lost package). My only complaint is the quality of the photos isn’t good... not sure what I can do about that. They all look like someone took a pic that was purposely out of focus 😅

luxloot @jadet4 Wow! Michael is all set then. Lucky man. Paranoia is another symptom that Mama exhibited. It all comes in stages, for some faster than the others. You will become your mother's anchor as she will not trust anyone but you or Michael. She will need that one person that she remembers and can trust. The family kept a large notepad and a pen or marker on the table where they would write where they went if they left Mama, even if someone was home.

luxloot @jadet4 She slept very little and would wake up often wondering where she was or looking for her daughter. She ate very little as well, became a picky eater and didn't drink enough water. She pretended to eat and drink but hid food under the napkin. That's all down the road. I don't want to scare you, my friend. It was a gradual process. All I can say that when she ate right and took supplements (especially fish oil and coconut oil), she was much more alert.

luxloot @jadet4 Doctors are so quick to prescribe some medication with insane side effects. You still have time to fight the symptoms in a healthy way. I will look into M. Thank you for telling me!

jadet4 @luxloot All good advice 💕💕 Thank you! I’ve noticed a preoccupation with eating. When where what she’s going to eat. I’ve made the connection but I’ve also noticed she chokes EVERY time she eats or drinks, even if it’s just a bit. Could that be related or is it something else? When I ask her about it, she denies that she does it. 🤨

luxloot @jadet4 I had to find out if Mama was experiencing smth similar. What I was told was that sometimes people with dementia forget how to swallow. But in Mama's case, she was aspirating her food towards the end. It's best to check with the doctor. It could be that she just forgets how to swallow. What medication is she on, if you don't mind me asking?

jadet4 @luxloot Her dr has recommended no meds thus far. But we are advised to return in 3 more months time. Off the top of your head, can you remember some natural supplements and/ or diet that helped? I’m curious if there is a nonevasive action we can take.

luxloot @jadet4 The Coconut Oil is by Carrington Farms. I don't know why the title is missing the brand name. But we get all of these products from the same place you got Nordic Naturals which is the BEST fish oil (we've tried all of them) and is the only one that doesn't repeat.
