This special mug features a NYT font iconic “T” debossed below the surface, adding an eye-catching dimension to the impeccable design.
This was handmade in a Bushwick, Brooklyn NY ceramic studio called Franca. The female owners met at art school and since 2016 have dedicated their studio to producing handmade porcelain mugs. They use an ancient artisan process called slip casting. As each mug is made by hand in their studio, there are slight imperfections. For example, this mug is stamped on the bottom, and some of the ink they used smeared on a couple of the letters if you look very carefully. Also see pic where pencil points out a faint mark. It will probably come off. They are sold in the New York Times store and the color was chosen to resemble newsprint. It also has a wonderful texture and feel to it, like you are turning the pages of the Sunday New York Times.
Each 10 oz mug is 3.25” in diameter (4.5” with handle) and 3.25” high
Color is a specially created light grey (newspaper pulp grey)
Made out of porcelain, microwave and dishwasher safe.
These are 32 plus shipping on the New York Times store site if you want more!
