There's a great deal of history associated with this tie clip. It was a part of the uniform for the New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad, commonly known as the New Haven.
The railroad was in operation through New England from 1872 to 1968.
The tie clip measures approximately 1 5/8" × 1/4".
The circular railroad emblem measures approximately 15/16" in diameter.
