As a former beauty consultant, never ever buy used or swatched makeup. Don’t even try it at the department stores. Did you know you can get eye mites from old mascara? You can Google it. The pictures will disgust you. Rotate your make up.

@pitbullmamainfl when I was in training class. They showed us a video of a woman who got eye mites from used makeup. Grossed me out forever.

Don’t use testers, ever. I know that Sephora stopped allowing customers to try testers when the pandemic began. Now, beauty advisers do it for you because they’re trained and know how to keep the product sanitary. You don’t know who has used a lipstick on an open tester unit; or who last used a “used” beauty product. Do you know about “dumpster divers” who sell actual garbage? I worked for the big two beauty stores before I retired so, please heed this advice from Adrienne and myself.

@22scampy thank you ☺️ I had no idea about the dumpster divers, but I believe it. I had a friend who worked at the Mall years ago and people would hit the trash after mall hours for returns or damaged BBW. I heard they now have a system in place to prevent this. Not sure how they handle it. Maybe garbage pickup is during store hours? Thank you for informing people.

@adriennebebow there was a story on the news that if the dumpster isn’t locked and “no trespassing” signs it’s not illegal. They go after testers which are nasty in the first place!! And they sell the trash! Gross. No conscience. Sephora ships everything back to the company but Ulta tosses them out. That’s where it happens…ughhh!

My eyes have been opened to the eye mites 😝✨🙈 thank God I don’t use make up period. But I get it, in a diff job and with diff skin, I may have to 🙏🏽 My heart goes out to y’all make up warriors 🙏🏽✨❤️

When I massage ‘made up’ clients and soooo much make up is left on the head rest cover, I get sad because most of them don’t even need that many chemicals on their otherwise pretty faces, but society and magazines make women feel insecure to sell the stuff.

@simranraj I agree. I live in Texas. Summers are HOT. I don’t wear makeup, unless it’s a speck occasion. So, I say 1-2 times a month and it’s light. I look younger without it, in my opinion. For my daughter’s wedding, of course it will be worn and probably melt off lol

Thanks for posting! One seller blocked me because I noted how dangerous it was during the pandemic. Let’s take care of one another!

@lamilongera if they act that way, you don’t want to do business with them anyway. Let’s support others and cheer them on. We are all here for the same reason! To sell & buy! I love making new friends, as well! ☺️

@seadragonfly of course! Feel free!

@simranraj when I was trained by the “big two” beauty boutiques we were told that one of our most important duties was to inform our clients. It’s up to us to educate you guys on makeup & skincare, and that would include answering these “do & don’t” questions for you.

I was working for Sephora when they stopped allowing clients to use testers. I thought it was best especially at that time the pandemic was beginning to spread. It’s good that people are becoming aware of the dangers of used makeup.
