This specimen is almost the shape of the State. Chalcedony, commonly called the blue agate, was named Nebraska's state gemstone by legislative action in 1967. These particular specimens referred to by some locals as ‘ledge agate’ is from the same area as the Nebraska Blue Agate, Sioux County just happens to be mostly black, white and gray with some of the beautiful brown coloring on the matrix.
This is a natural stone from mother earth and, even though tumbled, it displays the marking and indentions as made by nature.
