The Dunk (not the other one) Donut Co. began in the late 1930s with several locations in Cleveland and northeast Ohio, along with some in Detroit and Chicago. The chain started with brothers Adolph and Bill Stern.
The business had registered the name "Dunkin Donuts" in Michigan before Dunkin' Donuts came along and wanted to open there. They gave the owners enough $ to go ahead and retire! The logo was designed by Bill's wife, Rose.
The matchbook used for this Tshirt is from the 1940s.
Thanks for looking! Before you order:
My designs are printed on demand, using a digital, ink-direct-to-shirt process. That means the design feels like a natural part of the shirt, and not glued-on or plastic feeling like a lot of cheap shirts you can find. These are the highest quality prints you can get.
All of my shirts are either directly created from or inspired by old matchbooks, and other advertisements. I scan them, fix them up, rearrange, recolor, re-create and retouch any glaring issues, but they will all keep their vintage look to them and are not perfect. And that's what I like about them!
The sizing is considered "true to size", so- if you are unsure about what size, go ahead and order a size up.
