I am wondrn if NE1 culd help me? I found it yrs ago tarnishd. thought it was so cute. I'm afraid to wear it alot cuz there gap between beads and clasp n fraud will break. has older style clasp and no markings that i can tell but polishes like 925 n dont turn. the birds are so cute and detailed considering size course they have no wings but still very cute..I'm jus wondrn if NE1can tell how old or origin of it. ?? Wild appreciate it. I'm jus curious wild make no diff. overall jus curious..thnks.

vintage_rocks That is from the early 70's it is a Zuni Fetish necklace, I have one, they are becoming very rare, it is on a liquid silver chain, it is made out of Sterling. ❤❤❤❤

a_mccarter @vintage_rocks oh it's jus the spacing between the beads. I think the string has pulled was already lil loose when I got.it but I'm afraid I'll b wearing it and it will jus break. Might b silly ? But the actual threaded string won't have affect on piece itself right if it was replaced.

liagpurple @a_mccarter After speaking to you I looked up the zuni necklace with the birds on it.I had no idea I had bought my 8 yr old daughter a 3 strand one with mother of pearl birds on it.This local lady on fb had turquiose pieces from an estate sale.I paid like 10 bucks for that zuni for my daughter.Had no idea they are selling in the 100 dollar range on poshmark

a_mccarter @liagpurple yea and the lady that told me the Ctual name of it said they were becoming more and more rare she said mine was from early 70s and probly word like 70 bucks as is in the condition cuz the string is kinda pulled on mine the comment is on the page from her if Im off but it's a very small version of it and I paid like 3-5 $ for mine. Lol love em and they apparently worth lot more

sunbursthancock It would only be like $10 to restring if you want to keep the same clasp. It would be an easy fix. If you want a new clasp I’d just charge you actual cost so you can lmk about that. Nicer solid silver ones run like $5, but if you like how the clasp is, I’ll just put that one back on. Also, are you on instagram by chance? Im happy to restring this for you, I have all the supplies and make my own stuff😊 as far as the value and finding something to match as a bracelet I am not sure. @vintage_rocks is the most knowledgeable person I know when it comes to authentic Native jewelry. My guess on the value of this necklace is over $100, but sentimental value can always be more.

sunbursthancock @a_mccarter and as far as time to restring I can easily turn it around in a couple of days. We have options, and I know trusting a complete stranger can be scary, so if you prefer we do all through posh it will cost more out of pocket with shipping and everything. sunbursthancock @a_mccarter the cheapest option would be for you to mail the necklace to me directly with tracking. Once it arrives I can restring w/in a couple of days on a coated/braided wire that won’t ever break. Then you’d just have to tell me if you want to keep the same barrel clasp or of you want like a lobster clasp. The restring part would only be like $10 and then option for clasp would be like $5 more but I may have to order that, then postage to mail back to you. Easy fix😊

I love the vintage vs today's jewelry. My opinion the quality is so much better. nannyharper @a_mccarter oh this one you have is beautiful and definite vintage.A lot of older, vintage, Navajo etc have the type of clasps you are talking about. I have a lot of liquid silver made with cones and barrels and I love the liquid silver it's gorgeous. Watch for the markings on your items hon that. Can tell you a lot. Research any markings or words written on the item such as the SAY initials 924 RB the letters can tell you a lot such as designer, era ETC

a_mccarter @nannyharper I've always had a love for vintage my mom has told me my whole life i was born in the wrong era and was k ow in school and everywhere for having "unique taste" but jus took everyone a while to catch up to it T hats all..lol my great mamaw had all her clothing most handmade by her from her teen and on yrs and I use to botfkw then til I outgrew her way too sp on..lol thw y would always pick me up lol tidbits here and there cuz I was only one in family that liked that sort of style..

When purch. it not knowin if it was even real or whatever I jus loved the flow &tiny birds were so cute to me it was 1 of those things that u knew u were gettin no matter what it cost or if it were real or whaevr u had have it.& looked like Ss like it culd be cleaned up& either way id get useof it. I found a liquid silver/turquoise necklace in my “vault” of stuff last week, but this very clasp had been torn off so I have to restring the whole piece. Made me think about this one. vtgcovergirl @a_mccarter As long as you use quality sterling you’re probably okay as far as the technical monetary value, but because it’s a vintage piece, these type of barrel clasps are usually a sign that it’s from a particular time period. That’s my understanding anyway. I’m actually going to look for one that will go with mine if I can’t find it in the stash. I’ll tag you for sure whenever that project is complete. 😉😉
