Nike Sportswear’s lifestyle offerings are usually derived from existing basketball, running or casual styles, but here’s a case where we’re left wondering which are the influences behind its novel design? The Nike Trainer Clean Sweep sounds at first like it might be a cross-trainer, and from the looks of the extremely high silo with its unique tongue, maybe it could even be a wrestling/boxing-oriented choice. But you can’t deny the Air Force 1/early ’80s basketball influence in the overall design and especially the sole (its traction pegs akin to the AF1 Duckboot).
