Oregon Waffles were the first Waffle shoe sold to the public in 1973 by Nike. The iconic Waffle was named for the patented waffle iron-like pattern of the rubber outsole which Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman developed after being inspired by his wife’s waffle iron. - The raised grid of polygon nubs increased stabilization with gripping edges that improved traction on multiple surfaces, without the need for metal spikes. - Nylon used for the upper created light-weight durability. A 2007 Retro version of the original 1973 Oregon Waffle. Nylon red upper, red suede lace cage, black suede toe cap and heel counter, black leather Swoosh and heel tabs with bold red Nike lettering. - Weathered finish to laces, midsoles and outsoles for a vintage look. - Nike black and orange logo tongue tags.
