Vintage Avon “Heart and Diamond” Fostoria Loving Cup perfumes candle holder. A romantic design that reveals two loving silhouettes! Hold the “Heart and Diamond” Fostoria Loving Cup at eye level and trace its contours with your eyes, moving from cup along stem to base. Concentrate deeply and you will see that the cup’s outline creates the illusion of two sweethearts only moments away from a kiss. This Avon Perfumed Candle is molded with a special material that snuffs out the candle at the end of its burning. The colored residue left at the bottom is this material. American pressed glass manufacture in the 19th century has a silvery radiance and delicacy of design that makes it highly prized by collector’s today. A truly complete collection of this treasured Americana would include an example of the Heart pattern, produced before 1930 and historically a forerunner of the famous “lacy” design. This lovely early pattern appeared on cup plates, bowls and dishes, usually combined with other motifs, such as wheat, lyres, palmettos or scrolls, but only rarely with diamonds. It was the rarity & beauty of the Hearts & Diamonds pattern that inspired this elegant pressed glass goblet.
