NATURAL STAR SAPPHIRE 1.43ct / Silky Blue 7 x 5.5mm / 6 Point Star / Untreated

Blue sapphires are made up of the mineral corundum that is colored by trace elements of titanium and iron. Blue sapphires have been symbols of loyalty, truth, and honesty, which align well with Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn and Aquarius. Star sapphires have thin, needle-like crystals growing inside them called rutile which gives them a silky appearance. When the rutile grow in several directions and are hit by light, they form a six point ‘star’. Natural star sapphires are untreated because heating them to intensify their color would destroy the rutile crystals that make the star. This is a 5.5x7mm natural blue star sapphire cabochon that weighs 1.43 carats. It is unpolished on the bottom (see photo) which helps with the star effect. The rays of the star are thin but well defined. It would look great in a ring or pendant surrounded by little white diamonds.
