An attractive 7/8-inch wide x 1-inch high brown striped natural stone adorns this 33-inch brown fabric bolo cord with silver tone tips. Pre-owned, tie is in great condition. ● Worn across the Western United States since the early 1900s, bolo ties began as a Native American accessory before becoming the neckwear of Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico. The bolo tie purpose was to show the impressive brooches from cowboy hats but without needing to wear a hat, but wearing it on a shirt. In the 1940s, a man named Victor Emanuel Cedarstaff from Wickenburg, AZ claimed to have invented the bolo tie after an incident when his hat blew off while he was riding. Not wanting to lose his silver-trimmed hatband, he slipped it around his neck. But most people believe the origin story that Manny Goodman, the owner of a New Mexico craft store in the 1930s, put forth about the bolo tie. He observed local Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni men wearing bandanas clasped around their necks with a shell or silver conch, with ends holding it together and used to adjust the fit. The bolo tie was originally made to be worn exactly like a necktie. Button all the buttons on the front of your shirt, including the top collar button, and then slide the clasp all the way to the top of your neck. ● You will receive your bolo in a velvet gift pouch shipped Priority.
