clothes_calling @sexychicshay It's true the psychology of a dog is definitely different than ours. I am watching & listening to an online puppy course called fenrir dog training. he has great youtube videos - he is a canine behavorialist (sp?) It's been so many years since we have had a puppy here, and I considering how big she is going to be, I don't want an out of control giant breed running me around LOL

clothes_calling @sexychicshay Since she is an Italian Mastiff I was going through Italian names and think I have it down to 'Bella' now. It also reminds me of Italy where everyone is always yelling and smiling "Ciao Bella". I love the idea of walking around the house saying 'ciao bella' lol.

resale4you Bella is adorable! Congrats ❤️ We put down 13 yr old lab in Sept; age & cancer mass on back. Son’s German Shepherd, 10 wasn’t acting “right” Dec 6; turned down walk, breathing differently, wanting to lie down... son took her to after care. They did ultrasound in AM. Called to tell us we should put her down immediately; cancer mass in spleen, fluid on heart. We just adopted shepherd mix stray ~2 years old (my banner pic).

Our first 'family' dog was a German Shepherd Sammy who was also 10 when he had to put him down for the same cancer that our 'Champ' is now suffering from. I love big breeds. Shepherds and Mastiffs, my top 2. What is your new doggy's name? They do fill our hearts & home. My 2 kids are grown and out of the house - both 20s.... so I am feeling ready for the 'puppy' challenge. :)

The guy I am taking the course from has a great free Youtube channel with tons of videos and advice which I highly recommend to keep bookmarked if you come across any issues, situations or just want to learn more to do with our 4 legged family members... his youtube channel is named Fenrir Canine Training

Oh I know how quickly these giant breeds grow...so I will be enjoy being able to carry for a very short time...but at the same time stay calm and discipline correctly so she knows how to behave when she is bigger. :) Akita's are beautiful dogs! How hold is yours?

clothes_calling @dodger13 hahaha... yes she will be a big girl. I love the big/giant breeds! I miss my Sunny that is on my Posh banner... she was a mastiff mix and the sweetest and sooo gentle! I hope Bella grows up to be a lot like her (in the sense of gentle and kind and loving). :)

resale4you @clothescalling Our newest addition is Zoe. Oftentimes, ZANY Zoe! 😉🥰 We’ve lucked out. She has a sweet disposition, is gentle, trusting, knows how to play (2 of my mom’s rescues had no idea how to play, especially with a ball) and Zoe is... HOUSEBROKEN!!! 🥰She has separation anxiety; howls and barks like a champ for an hour or more. We’ll need to work on that some after I do some research. TY for trainer suggestion. I’ll look into them.

resale4you @clothescalling My son and I are at home. Crating won’t be required too often. Biggest negative we’re dealing with is pottying. Our yard is stripped of most grass from the two big dogs chasing balls for a decade. Think water and mud... a puppy’s delight! 🥰 Lots of towels and wiping down. May require outside help ($) come Spring. One day at a time sweet Jesus... With how fast your pup will grow, I’d be tempted to hold and sleep with them around the clock. Hope it’s going well. 😊

clothes_calling @resale4you aw I love hearing about other doggies. Our mastiff that passed was also not interested in play. She was just happy to be with the family, loved walks, hikes etc. It's funny how some are just like that. Others just love playing and rough housing with each other. Bella is easy going so far. Calm for the most part. Is understanding 'sit'. Not so much 'stay' yet but slowly I'm sure she will. Potty training is 50/50. She will wait to go outside for wee but my gosh for #2 she

clothes_calling @resale4you goes in the boot of my SUV when I take her out for a car ride. And she has gone 2x in the room where I have her crate. I closed the bedroom door when to get a cup of coffee in the kitchen, take care of a few little things...came back within 10-12 minutes and there it was outside of the crate. She whimpered for the first few minutes and then stopped. She does the same in the car... she will whimper for a few minutes and then gets quiet...and then poop. Must be the separation anxi

clothes_calling @resale4you anxiety that is perhaps causing her to poop in those 2 places vs. outside where she has no problem going wee. IDK. But she is so young, I am only on day 2.5 and starting to learn her schedule to go as well which will help me guide her outside. sigh.... it sure is work, but nothing like the love of a puppy/dog in return. Soooo worth it in my world. :)

clothes_calling @rhody_reseller I love Bruce Wayne too. I know people with this breed and they r all pretty much like him. They love being with their pack and want to please. They are very obedient, assuming you train them to be, they are smart and yes they can be stubborn once in a while.

clothes_calling @edygm aw thank you! I need to post an updated photo...she is growing sooo fast! I belong to a few facebook groups that are for Italian Mastiff lovers. They are also known as Cane Corso. Just be cautious if you see any listed on Craigslist - many are not true 'Italian Mastiffs'. There are also rescues. I was lucky because in one of the groups they had her photo but because she was the runt - people would ask but then no takers when they were told she is the runt. Then I knew I wanted her.

libbyspence916 My first Boston, Jackson, passed from liver cancer that came on with symptoms so suddenly that he already had mets when he began to show any signs. I lost him 3 days later!!! It was absolutely horrendous. He was only 9, and such a great dog!!! I have his paw print tattooed on my wrist surrounded by a rainbow heart as a reminder when I miss him that I will get to see him again at the Rainbow Bridge🌈❣️

clothes_calling @dee2595 LOL no hand me downs here... this baby has grown out so quickly of her collars. We are currently using on of our other dog's hand me down leather collars. I'm sure you will find that perfect red collar on here!!! I should do the same thing and shop for Bella's next collar on here... she is over 70 pounds now and will be ready for a new one in a few months lol
