Motion activated - uses 4 AA batteries (not included), you turn it on, adjust the volume then motion activate it near the left side of the mouse. The mouse talks, turns his head then announces which song you have placed on his piano then starts to play the song. Super cute. The photo shows 7 music sheets - it actually only comes with 6 (1 was a duplicate) - it originally had 12 but is missing 6.
