The strings are 100% nylon. They can be hung outdoors. Size of the plaques: Mountaine Meadows ceramic plaques are all approximately: 4 inches x 6 inches x 1/4 inch thick. Even though they are made by hand, they are all very close to this measurement. How do you hang them up?: You can hang the plaques on any type of hook. Some people use a push pin, cup hook, small nail, or decorative hook.
