Mountain Babies doll factory reproduction of the SFBJ 252 11 dolls that were made in Paris. Mountain Babies doll factory was located in Washington State and was very popular with collectors - the design, clothing and styles were carefully researched and created.
He is an 18" boy doll in good condition - his stringing is loose, so will need a doll stand if you wish to display standing. He can sit well.
He wears a newsboy cap, tweedy overalls and a knit sweater that matches his socks. True to the designers quality, the clothing is very well made.
I was unable to remove his undershirt, but his torso looks fine - see photos.
Some Background: (also see the last photo of a 1979 article)
Between 1979 and about 1992, two sisters, Denise Lemmon and Beverly Saxton, produced a series of one-of-a-kind porcelain antique reproduction dolls at their Graham, WA studio. Denise was already a well-known Pacific Northwest artist, having won recognition in regional shows for her Kate Greenway style paintings. Her previous experience as a designer helped her perfect the meticulous carving and China painting that made their custom dolls come to life. Beverly researched the background of the antique dolls that Mountain Babies would select for reproduction, and applied her color expertise in ways that gave each doll a unique presence. Their limited productions found their way into serious collections in the United States and elsewhere.
