Handmade Antique Mormon Handcart Pioneer Pin * depicts immigrants pulling & pushing a handcart loaded with personal belongings * A man is shown pulling in front while a woman is depicted pushing from behind. The dog is leading the way. * Based on the clap and construction, I believe this dates to sometime before 1920 * There is a touch of red enamel(?) paint on each figure. The man's cap and the woman's skirt have been painted red. * Red paint shows signs of wear and the gold tones show through in places. See photos. * Hard to find anything comparable to this antique pin. * Nice gift for someone with Mormon Handcart Pioneer ancestry or for someone who loves American history and the westward expansion. * Metal alloy is unknown. It is NOT gold. * Pinback is loose but when tested by wearing the pin stayed on just fine.
