Moolack Beach numbered 142/2000 signed by Carol Thompson
"A popular scene on the Oregon Coast is Moolack Beach, located north of Newport. With the lighthouse at Yaquina Head in the distance and a lazy fall morning surf below, a group of colorful worm banners, spin socks, and parafoils catch the eye and imagination of travelers."
Artist comment: "Kite flying is popular on the beaches of the Pacific Northwest, where westerly winds are consistently sweeping over sandy beaches. It, therefore, is a perfect setting for kite flying enthusiasts to send aloft a colorful display of fluttering fabric. Here, in oil on canvas, I recreated the scene near Newport, Oregon. I sketched the headland and lighthouse and lightly indicated where the kites would be. I painted sky, sea, and land. When the background was dry, I did the kites and 'socks'. Lastly, I drew in a line connecting them to the beach."
